Ahead of the game

I’ve been designing the new and improved g-raff site. Initially I was thinking of going quite left of centre. Then I thought that was a bad idea. We’re going to do what we do - simple, content that just gets the point across and some smart little Flash bits. Isn’t everyone doing that?

No. Web 2.0. Web 2.0. Time to scream out loud. When I mention that in front of business clients, they get all excited. The MySpace model. How can we make our business run more like Flikr? Its nuts. I know the era of top-down web-content is dying out, but its just comedy at the moment, watching all webdesigns becoming generic pieces of CSS perfection, complete with AJAX features and RSS feeds. Throw in a podcast or two and there you have it.

I’m working on Web 3.0, and Music Industry v2.1 - free music. Bring it on!

Check this out - a perfect summation of Web 2.0 hype, particularly the opening comment from “Joe Blow” : Streakr Comment page. I love it. All this blabber about Web 2.0 is getting a bit much. If I see another clean-as-can-be CSS site boasting all the usability and everything that goes with it, I’m going to cry. Its not that I’m against all this, I’m just beginning to see that it is exactly what they say it is on this page - a trend, and quite an annoying one at that. Web 2.0 is meaningless. Social networking my ass.

    Hi Steve

I won’t pretend for a second to understand all the technical jargon in this post, but it all sounds very interesting!!

I hope you’re feeling much better today :o)
