24. Now there’s a series.

When Diane was watching “24″ - we were living in Australia at the time - I was not. I probably scorned her for watching “more American shite”, as I was in the midst of a total anti-TV year. Now, 3 years on, I find myself sitting tucked up in bed with a glass of fine red wine, watching series one in chunks of four episodes at a time. Its so addictive. Spike, after telling me that I was making a grave mistake with my evaluation of “Extras” then told me I should check out West Wing… I’m scared to now, as I’ve realised I am not immune to televisual entertainment, and will probably get totally hooked on that too. Sometimes I think to myself - “HEY YOU TWAT - you live in the biggest and best city in Europe. A city of endless possibilities, where a thousand colours and sounds are happening right now… GO AND GET INTO IT!”, and then another voice comes in… “Bollocks to that. Where’s disc 3? Got to see what happens at 08:00!!”

Such is the story of our lives. Time marches on. Do we really have to live every moment to the max? Is it best to sometimes take life slowly, to enjoy the mundane, the unimportant, the insignifigant? I think I enjoy those things all too much. Sometimes the thought of a cup of tea in the afternoon brings an exhilaration that is utterly indescribable. Sounds ludicrous, but its true. And as for the joy I get from spending moments with my wee boy, well, that’s a whole other story… any parent who gets the picture will understand, but it transcends everything I thought having a child would bring.

No music to report at the moment. Duke Special has released his new record. Go get it. Its just awesome, and I think he is on the cusp of magic. Diane’s favourite musician by a million miles, and with every right to be. He’s really gifted, and a lovely bloke to boot.

Right - now what does happen at 08:00…

    Hi Steve

My only advice to you is get the West Wing box set and start watching from series one. You won’t be disappointed it’s 100 hours of the most intelligent television ever made and it sure helps you understand the weird US system :o)

    Hope you are well

Bought my tickets for Dave Matthews’s Amsterdam gig (in March) a while ago…and just noticed Duke Special is actually up there the same night playing in the upper hall.
