Little mouse with clogs on

Flat landscape. A canal. A solitary wind generator gracefully turning in the sunshine. It must be Holland. I slept for a long long time… almost forcing myself to avoid facing the longest trip of the tour… a mammoth 14 hour drive from Milan to Amsterdam. In fact, as we left at 7pm last night, and its now 11am next day, its a 16+ hour drive. We sat for a while listening to various Serge Gainsbourg records on the stereo, but after a while I just couldn’t take any more and crashed out in my trusty bunk upstairs.

It was a nice day off yesterday, despite having a few admin tasks to sort out. After a nice iChat with Di and Luka, I headed out with Vincent for a walk on the roof of Milan Cathedral - something I will never forget… it was a stunning experience; the sun coming out as we ascended the stairs conspired to forge it into a lifelong memory. When you come out on the terrace, there is a vertigo-inducing view of the Piazza del Duomo, amongst gothic spires and incredibly detailed gargoyles and architectural magic - and you can keep going up until you are on the roof! The view from there is predictably awe-inspiring. I just drank it in for the time we spent there.

And now for some olive oil. I found some from Tenuta San Guido - and as I love the wine from there, just thought it would be nice to get it… the star of Sassicaia graces the label. I bought another one in a supermarket alongside a bottle of Amarone. Italy is just fantastic for food - its reputation is justified.
