Tempting Fate, Safe Landing.

Having played Oxegen festival in Ireland last night, pretty much all the bands were heading over to play “T in the Park” today… and we were ALL on the same plane. It was great crack, if slightly surreal - Snow Patrol (good to see some old faces!!), Queens Of The Stone Age (long live Josh Homme - lovely man), The Scissor Sisters, Air, Kings of Leon, Interpol and Jet were all on the flight. We were scattered amongst the Scissor Sisters who were good fun… Just before take off, JB turned round and in his wonderful French accent said “You know, if za plane will crash, zere will be a hole in za music industry. We should be ready.” Then with a chuckle he turned back to his book “Le Principe de Lucifer”. I mean, talk about tempting fate. The spectacular turbulence coming in to land didn’t help, but it passed off without incident and the shades brigade walked through Edinburgh Airport intact.

Another excellent JB-ism of the day was when he was telling me about some observations a scientist had made of “shamponzays”. It took me about 10 minutes to realise he was talking about “chimpanzees”. How wonderful!

Some pigeons are having an orgy outside my window at the Malmaison hotel in Edinburgh. I hope they stop soon, as they seem to be having way too much fun, given the extreme cooing.

So - off to “T in the Park” - the rain is off, and somewhere in there lies the potential to have a great night.
